Basically, in typical hose, there are usually four different types of bedroom: master bedroom, kids bedroom, guest bedroom, teenager bedroom. And all those bedrooms have their own specific unique wall decorations.

First of all, wall decorating doesn’t have to be hard, time-consuming task. It could be rather easy. One could simply paint the walls or apply a wallpaper. Those actions are easy and don’t even cost lots of money.

If you are decorating bedroom walls, you have to understand that results directly reflect the amount of work put into it. So if you want good results, you better mix various techniques in order to achieve best results.

Other than typical techniques like wall painting (note that different walls can be painted in different colors) and applying wallpaper to your walls, you could use other lesser known techniques.

For example, you could play with shadows. If you room receives lots of light, then you could make use of that light to create various interesting shadow patterns. That can be done by using mild steel grill or maybe even stained glass painting. By using various colors on glass, you can achieve the effect of painted shadow (green/blue/red shadows etc.) and all that combined can result in very good decorations. Another idea for bedroom wall decor could be painting a picture on the wall. Basically, instead of using picture frames, you could simply pain a picture on the wall.

Using various wall finishes is also great option and it might have the best effect. However, those tasks require professionals and therefore can be quite expensive.

Also don’t forget to match wall decorations with your bedroom furniture.

You can use wallpapers or maybe wall stenciling. Those two options were popular lately. However just like they’ve become popular basically ‘over night’, same way they might disappear. And on top of that, those two methods aren’t practical at all because you have to paste paper to the walls.

Instead of pasting wallpapers to the walls (it’s hard to remove it later on) you could use completely different solution. I advice you to try out removable wall stickers. Wall stickers are great because they are flexible and can be easily installed as well as easily removed depending on what you need.

Just imagine situation like this. You have a baby. And you decorate its room with posters of their favourite cartoon characters. However, your child grows and after some time, he’ll want other wallpapers. You see, if you use flexible wall stickers, you can remove old ones and install new one in a matter of seconds or minutes. There is no need for hard work, no problems with paint etc. Everything is fast and easy.

Wall stickers are great because you don’t have to worry about residue. There are no problems with them sticking to every surface on virtually every wall. You could teach your child how to use wall stickers (it’s super easy) so you child could decorate the room however he/she wants.

Basically, because of its nature and the ease of handling, wall stickers are the best home decorating idea for kid’s room because you can adopt walls to suite kid’s wishes and needs.

Today, modern wall techniques for kid’s room became art. If you don’t feel comfortable to invite expert or you are worried about price, here are some steps to lead you through a room redecorating process.

First thing you should do is protect a floor and furniture. A lot of people forget this very important step and when they are finished with painting walls, they realize they have ruined furniture and floor.

When you are redecorating your child’s room you should be aware of age of your child. White walls are not an option. Rather choose some pastel color which is going to make his room staid.

Now you are going to make your child’s room special. While the color is drying, take a paperboard and make a template. If you are very good drawer you can draw your kid’s favorite character from fairy tale. If you are not very good drawer choose some easier example. For example, if you choose a blue color of walls you can draw a stars (different sizes) on paperboard and cut them of. Take a paperboard as a template and make a yellow stars on ceiling.

Be careful!!! Yellow color mustn’t be lighter then blue color you choose. If you choose a darker blue color your stars won’t be yellow. But if you insist on darker blue color, while you are painting your wall (step 2), take stars you cut off from paperboard (step 3) and affix them on ceiling. when you finished coloring take off stars from ceiling and fill up empty spaces with yellow color.

Clearing the room

Clearing the room is very important because you don’t want your furniture to get painted. The best solution would be to move the furniture out of the room. If you can’t, you should buy paper or plastic sheets (they are really cheap) and cover everything. You should also remove pictures, lamps as well as nails, screws… All those smaller things should be put into separate marked bags to make the re-installation after painting easier. If you don’t remove wall plates and light switches, make sure to cover them – I wouldn’t suggest playing with electricity if you don’t know what you are doing.

Preparing the wall

In order to paint the walls perfectly, you will have to remove all holes and cracks. You should start by creating a mix that will fill up the holes. Scrape off flaking paint too.

While doing those things, you should definitely use some kind of mask to protect yourself.

Cleaning the room

Dust should be removed off of the every surface to make the paint stick to the wall. Use soft cloth for that. Furthermore, use water and maybe soap to ensure that paint will stick to the walls. Don’t forget to change the water every now and then. Protect yourself by wearing rubber gloves!

First of all, you’ve got to choose right color. That of course depends on the room we are talking about. For rooms like bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchens – where functionality is important – I’m sure you’ll want walls that are easy for maintenance. So you can clean and wash them fast without much problems.

Contrary to that, you will want more romantic and modern or contemporary colors in living rooms, bedrooms and dining rooms. Obviously, for children’s rooms, safety is your primary objective.

As far as buying your paint goes, you get what you pay for. It’s always been like that, and it will always be. My advice is to go for famous and proven brand. Try to match your needs with your financial situation and with your projects. High quality paint will always outperform low quality pain.

Also, while buying paint, you have to know how much you need. To calculate that, you will need to multiply the length of all your walls by the height of those walls. Generally, after you’ve finished painting, you would want to have some paint left so you can fill those spots that you’ve missed. Note that the amount of paint depends on the quality of paint. The same works for color too.

You can benefit from having well painted home in numerous ways. First of all, after coming home from work, you can relax in peace because colors can calm you down. Besides, you guests will notice that and they will give you compliments. That will affect your self esteem and make you proud of yourself. If you aren’t designer, don’t worry. You can do a lot for your home anyways. Well painted homes aren’t reserved for designers only.

Before you start brainstorming about potential ideas, try to check out for colors first. It’s always easier to work if you have something to start with. So head over towards local paint store and ask for color brochure and choose the best color that fits your home. If they don’t have that color, ask them to mix it for you.

Faux painting

Faux painting is one of the ways to improve the look of your walls. It basically makes your walls look like they were made of some other material like velvet, silk, granite, wood… Choices are endless. Besides, it doesn’t have to be only material. You could invent your own patterns… As I’ve stated already, choices are numerous.

There are some other techniques worth mentioning, but I won’t go deeper into them. For example: wall stenciling and idea known as rubber stamping.

So according to that, one thing is obvious – you need to change something. If you are on a budget and you are looking to save every cent, I would advise you to repaint your home. It’s one of the most inexpensive ways to change the look of your home. You will make yourself feel better as well!

If you want your home to look modern or contemporary, it would be good to use neutral colors. Modern paint colors often include bold splashes of black and white. Make sure that your new modern colors go along with your existing furniture.

For bathrooms, you can use taupe and pale greens. It adds that feeling just like a spa. You could spice up your interior with art work, accessories and furniture…

Alternatively if furniture is solid and heavy, you could simply cover it using nylon sheets or something made of similar material. Those sheets are very cheap and can be bought almost everywhere. They are very useful for situations like these. Don’t forget to remove pictures, wallpapers…

Next thing to do is to wipe the dust and check the surface of the walls. Basically, if you are painting the walls, I’m sure you would like to fill the holes and fix the cracks and things like that. For that you will need sandable patching compound. You should aim to buy a soft one that can be mixed by hands. While mixing it, it mustn’t be too wet because it won’t work then. It would fall out of the hole. After filling the holes with the mixture, it would be the best to use flat pad to sand it smooth to the rest of the wall.

After you’ve prepared everything for painting, it’s time for your wall painting techniques to center of attention. Basically, while painting walls, you can do whatever you want. Wall painting is definitely one of the cheapest ways to change the look of your interior completely. But also, bear in mind that you have some kind of limitations as well that have been proven to work. For example, don’t use shiny colors in bedrooms, instead use them in living room etc.
